Privacy Policy

In short

• There are no user accounts. You never register, log in, or tell us your name or email to use Simple Method.
• The app shows no ads and contains no advertising, tracking or analytics SDKs.
• Your settings, interface language, listening progress and package selection are stored on your device only.
• The only thing that reaches our server is what any web server sees while delivering a page or an audio file: the request itself, your IP address and your browser or app version.
• We do not sell or share your data — we collect nothing that could be sold.

The Android app

The app plays phrase packages it downloads from simplemethod.app. It works without an account and asks for no personal information. It stores on your device:

• player settings — languages, number of repeats, pauses, speed, what happens at the end of a package;
• the interface language you picked;
• listening progress — which package and which phrase you stopped at;
• the packages you ticked for a playlist, and the sort order of the list;
• a cache of the audio you have already played, so it plays again offline and without extra traffic.

All of it stays in the app's private storage on your phone. Nothing is uploaded, and Android erases it when you uninstall the app or clear its data (Settings → Apps → Simple Method → Storage → Clear data).

When the app fetches a package list or an audio file it makes an ordinary HTTPS request to simplemethod.app. It sends no identifier of you or your device — no advertising ID, no device ID, no account.

Permissions the app requests

• Internet — to download package lists and audio files.
• Foreground service, media playback and wake lock — to keep playing when the screen is off or you switch to another app.
• Notifications — to show the playback controls in the notification shade. You may decline it; the app still works, just without those controls.

The app never requests the microphone, camera, contacts, location, phone, calendar or your files, and it contains no code that could use them.

The website

simplemethod.app also works without an account. It uses browser storage for the same things the app keeps on your device:

• a lang cookie (one year) that remembers the interface language you picked;
• local storage holding your player settings, selected packages and listening progress;
• a session cookie that is issued only in the private admin area, which is not part of the public site.

None of it builds a profile of you, and nothing is shared with other sites.

Analytics

The website uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages get read. It records the page address, an approximate location derived from the IP (country/city level), the browser and whether you have been here before. Google shortens IP addresses before storing them, and we only ever look at aggregate reports, never at individual visitors.

The Android app contains no analytics at all — nothing about your listening is measured or reported anywhere.

How Google handles that data is described in the Google Privacy Policy. You can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on or by blocking analytics in your browser — the site behaves exactly the same either way.

Server logs

Our server keeps the usual technical request logs: IP address, time, the address requested, the response code and the user agent. They exist to keep the service running and to investigate errors and abuse, they are not tied to any identity, and they are kept no longer than needed for that.

Who else is involved

• Hosting and audio storage — the server and the S3-compatible storage that deliver the pages and the MP3 files.
• Google Analytics — website statistics only, see above.
• Google Play — distributes the app and gives us aggregate, anonymous install and crash statistics, under Google's own privacy policy.
• Google Cloud Text-to-Speech — we use it to generate the phrase audio in advance. It processes our phrase texts, never anything of yours.

No other SDKs, ad networks or data brokers are involved.

Children

Simple Method is a general-audience learning app. It is not directed at children under 13, and we knowingly collect no data from them — there is nothing to collect, since the app asks for no personal information at all.

Your data and your rights

Since we hold no account and no profile, there is nothing for us to look up, export or delete on request. Everything about you sits on your own device:

• to erase what the app stores — uninstall it, or use Settings → Apps → Simple Method → Storage → Clear data;
• to erase what the website stores — clear cookies and site data for simplemethod.app in your browser.

If you are in the EU/EEA or the UK, the GDPR gives you the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. Write to the address below and we will answer within 30 days. Our legal basis for the technical logs and the website statistics is legitimate interest in operating and improving the service.

Changes to this policy

If we ever start collecting something we do not collect today, we will update this page and change the date at the top before the change reaches you. The current version always lives at simplemethod.app/privacy.
